Replacement and Upgrade Project for Port Portal Crane Slewing Bearings

Project Background
The customer is a major port on China's eastern coast. The slewing bearings of several portal cranes had been in operation for more than 10 years and exhibited problems such as increased clearance and abnormal noise, requiring complete replacement.
Technical Difficulties
- The slewing bearing diameter exceeds 2500mm, classifying it as an extra-large bearing
- Limited installation space requires a precise construction plan
- The salt spray corrosion environment of the port places extremely high demands on bearing protection
- The crane starts and stops frequently, with dramatic load variations
Solution
Product Design: A four-point contact ball slewing bearing was adopted to meet the requirement of simultaneously withstanding axial force, radial force, and overturning moment.
Anti-Corrosion Treatment: The surface was treated with a special anti-corrosion coating, and seals made of salt-spray-resistant materials were selected.
Installation Service: A professional installation team was dispatched, a detailed construction plan was developed, and the replacement was completed during the equipment overhaul window.
Gear Matching: The external gear was precision-machined to ensure proper meshing with the drive pinion.
Project Achievements
- Slewing bearings on 5 portal cranes were successfully replaced
- The replacement construction period for a single crane was only 5 days
- After replacement, operation was smooth, with significantly reduced noise and vibration
- The expected service life can reach more than 15 years
